About Davao Medical School Foundation
Davao Medical School Foundation, Inc. (DMSFI) was founded in July 1976 and has been ranked 6th among the top performing medical school in the Philippines. The main objective behind establishing this university is to provide recognition to the doctors and specialist, who were serving rural communities and urban centers of Mindanao. The University’s College of Medicine is the first college in Mindanao, dedicated to offering medical education and training of the par global quality to serve medical care to both rural and urban communities.
The University is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-stock, non-profit organization and approved by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Moreover, it also operates College of Dentistry, Center of Education, Research and Development in Health (CERDH) and an Institute of Primary Health Care (IPHC).
The University has around 125 Faculty members who are medical specialists and professionally experienced. There are around 1000+ students who are aspiring doctors and some 800 foreign medical students in different disciplines. The University is affiliated with the Davao Medical Center, the Davao Doctors Hospitals, San Pedro Hospital and Brokenshire Memorial Hospital for the student’s clinical rotations in the third and fourth year of the course.
The University has a friendly, positive environment and multi-diverse learning community which provides students with a good opportunity to interact with them and learn a vast range of culture. Various intercultural activities and sports are organized in the University, to give an opportunity to the students to showcase their cultural heritage and talent.
The University has modern infrastructure and fulfills the basic amenities & other facilities required by the students to study in a conducive environment. It has a library which serves as the center of information resources in the school. It holds a high-quality collection of print, non – print and electronic references, which are useful, cost effective and efficient in meeting the needs of the users.
